"We are actually in Spring Training right now. We have two more weeks for Spring Training and it would be Great if any kids interested in playing came out. If they can't be there for the Spring they can come out to the fall practices. Fall practice begins July 23rd. We practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights from 5:30 to dark. If you know of any students wanting to participate please have them contact me as soon as possible so that we will have uniforms available for them. The fee is $125.00 per student. This is for both Spring and Summer practices. You can reach me via email or home phone."

Football is for 6th grade thru 12th grade. They are divided up into Middle and high school teams. Practice is in Huntsville at Berachah Gym on Sparkman Drive.

PostSubject: Update   Thu Jul 26, 2007 7:08 pm

My name is Kenn Satterfield and I am the founder and President of Emerald City Sports. I know your busy but if I could have a few minutes of your time it would be appreciated. I'm not sure how much you know about our organization, so I wanted to update you on our program and what we are working on.

My wife and I had been homeschooling for about 4 years at the time and throughout the time I had heard various parents complaining about not having organized sports for their homeschooling children.

I began talking with some people and since I had all girls I wanted something that we could ALL participate in. My oldest daughter was heavily involved with competition cheering and my younger girls wanted to cheer as well. So I thought about football as an outlet for them to be able to cheer and I would be able to resolve the problem regarding homeschool sports. I discussed this with several parents from our church and everyone was so excited about it and thought it would be a GREAT idea. So we decided to go ahead and start a program.

God has opened and closed plenty of doors for this program over the last 4 years. This year we are rebuilding the team and business structure. This is definitely a year of change for ECS. Our coaching staff has been through changes as well and I'm really excited about the changes and possibilities there. The ECS coaching staff is unbelievable, and I firmly believe that God has brought this group of coaches together to help build this program. These coaches come out and volunteer their time to work with these students just because they love the game and believe in our program.

The coaching staff includes the following:

Coach Steve Tidwell - Head High school coach Will Pruitt - Assistant coach Brent Thompson - Assistant coach Arthur Humphrey - Assistant coach Mark Drake - Assistant coach Mike Worsham - Assistant coach

One of the biggest changes that we have gone through this past year is that we have moved from a privately owned business to a non- profit corporation so that we can look for funding which has been an issue in the past. We are in need of new uniforms and equipment and currently working on getting funding for that as well as building our own facility for home school sports. The program is definitely growing and it is very exciting to see God's hand in the changes.

I would also like to welcome Joe Stroud as the latest addition to the Emerald City Board of Directors. Mr. Stroud is the GM of the Tennessee Valley Vipers and runs the Tennessee Valley Christian Family Magazine. Other Board members include: Myself, Sandee Satterfield, Scott Stewart and David Mitchell.

Our Football and Cheerleading teams will begin July 23rd and looking for as many students as possible that are interested in playing football or cheering for a Christian program. The Team was originally designed for Homeschool students only but we have opened this up to Christian schools as well that do not currently have a "School" team to play for. Our High School team will have a 10 game schedule that includes schools from Huntsville, Birmingham, Nashville and Atlanta. We play our home games at the Richard Showers Center on Bluespring Road. Our middle school team will play a 6 to 7 game season with schools from the same locations. The high school will play 11 man tackle football and middle school will play 8 man unless we have enough participation then those games will move to 11 man as well.

Students that are interested need to call me as soon as possible on my cell number listed below. We currently have 20 additional positions available.

For information on donation or participation please contact me via email or phone at the address below.
