PostSubject: HOMESCHOOL FIELD TRIP 6/15 to Wild Animal Safari Pine Mtn GA   Fri Jun 08, 2007 10:14 am

Home Education Resources, an umbrella HomeSchool organization in south Atlanta, would like to invite your HomeSchool friends and support group to join us in a field trip to Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain (details below).

Home Education Resources has recently begun organizing field trips open to all HomeSchool families in the state of Georgia in order that we may qualify for group discounts and enjoy field trips with other HomeSchool families.

Home Education Resources is not a support group or co-op; H.E.R. is a non-profit, tax exempt organization formed by HomeSchool parents of 9 years to bring the HomeSchool community together in ways that benefit both HomeSchool students and parents for field trips, academic enrichment, and scholarship opportunities.

To learn more about Home Education Resources, or to register for this field trip and others, go to www.HomeEducationResources.org. If you have any questions, please e-mail HomeEducationResources@comcast.net.

Thanks!

Ross and Gin Bryant

One of the area's most popular attractions, the 500-acre Pine Mountain Wild Animal Safari, offers a unique experience. Visitors can see, touch, and feed hundreds of exotic animals - a true worldwide safari!

Our park has animals from every continent except Antartica and has nearly twice as many animals as the Atlanta Zoo! We have the largest display of Ligers (half tiger/half lion) in the world. Visitors can ride through the park, observe, take pictures and feed the animals from their car or one of our Zebra Vans. There are few parks like this left in the world (three that we know of), so you are in for a once in a lifetime experience!

When you visit us, you can spend your entire day exploring our 500-acre wildlife preserve that offers habitats encompassing the plains, swamps, deserts, mountains and forests of the world.

Some of the animals that call Wild Animal Safari home are becoming dangerously rare in the world, such as the Siberian Tiger, Water Buffalo, Bactrian Camel, and Banteng. Our animals falling into the category of Vulnerable Species include the Lion, Ring-tailed Lemur, Himalayan Tahr, Aoudad, Blackbuck Antelope, and Gaur. Wild Animal Safari has the Southern White Rhino, Spotted Hyena and Nilgai which fall into the category of a Conservation Dependent Species, which would qualify for one of the threatened categories within 5 years if they were not the focus of a conservation program. Wild Animal Safari Cares About Our World and the Animals That Inhabit it. From poaching in Africa, to the demolition of the rain forests, we at Wild Animal Safari wish to remain focused on providing a safe place where our animals can roam free.

A drive through the park will bring you face to face with exotic animals from all over the world. Ride in the park’s guided Zebra Bus (seasonal), rent a Zebra Van, or drive your own car. If you prefer to park your car but want to stay with your family, you may rent a Zebra Van in addition to regular ticket price-no advanced reservations (first come, first served). The drive-thru section takes about an hour depending on the number of stops and animal crossings.

Upon entering the drive through section you immediately begin to see animals that come right to the vehicle and see others in the distance that gives you the feeling of being on a safari in the Serengeti. Winding through 200 acres of natural environment on 3 1/2 miles of paved road, you will be able to touch a Giraffe, come face to face with American Bison, and see many other animals from all over the world in a natural setting. Have you ever seen a Yakatusi, Nilgai, Rhea, Black Buck Antelope, Watusi, North American Elk ??? After your safari through the drive through section, you’ll be able to tell your family and friends you have !!! You will drive through many sections as you wind through 200 acres of park ... Giraffe Hill - Cat Condo - Rhino Riviera - Camel Caravan ... just to name a few.

Please DO feed the animals! (You may purchase a 32 oz. souvenier cup of animal food for only $1.50 at the park!)

After your tour of the Serengeti Adventure, visit the Walk-About. Walk-About is more similar to a Zoo environment. The animals are penned and viewed from a walk through setting. The Walk-About consists of the Monkey House, Alligator Pit, Petting Zoo, Tropical Bird section, and Baby Land USA. View North American Black Bears, Wolves, Muntjac Deer, Porcupine, Monkeys, Alligators, Ligers, among many others while walking through the Walk-About.

The animals aren’t the only ones who enjoy the food at Wild Animal Safari. A comfortable dining area is available or you may wish to take your meal out to a nearby picnic table. You’ll enjoy the wide range of top quality food prepared promptly at the Safari Cafe. They offer delicious Noble Romans And Tuscanos (pizzas and subs), hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and more at prices comparable to area fast-food restaurants.
