Homeschool Skate Day
May's homeschool skate day at the Decatur Skate Castle will be May 11th, 2007 from 1pm-3pm. We will be skating to Contemporary Christian music. Admission cost is $2.50 per child ages 3 and over whether they skate or not. Non-skating moms and those 2 and under get in free. NOTE: There is now a $1.00 skate rental fee and $3.00 roller blade rental fee. Those paying to get in will receive a free small coke.

Homeschool Ice Skating
Homeschool Ice Skating Day at the Point Mallard Ice Plex in Decatur is held on the first Wednesday and third Friday of each month, from 12-2:30. The dates for this month are: May 2nd and 18th. The cost is $7 per skater, and includes a hot dog lunch.

Homeschool Swimming
Every Tuesday and Thursday at the Aquadome in Decatur is the Homeschool Swimming from 1:00-2:30 PM. Cost: $2.00 per swimmer.

Homeschool Mondays
Fee: $10/participant per session
Must pre-register by calling 564-8124
Each session will be held either at Early Works,
Alabama Constitution Village, or Huntsville Depot

May 7: Architectural Odyssey - Participants will study the architecture of the houses inside the Early Works gallery. From the log cabins to Frank Lloyd Wright houses, students will compare, contrast, and explore architectural elements through time. A walking tour highlighting downtown Huntsville architecture is included in this program.

May 14: Trades of the Times - Herbalist, Tinsmith, & Cabinetmaker - Participants will learn about the life of an apprentice as they meet Village tradespeople. This program provides the basis for strengthening vocabulary, comparing trades and careers and promoting decision making.

May 21: Ridin' the Rails - Transportation History - This program involves participants in all aspects of train travel: prices, times, and distances, maps and train routes and careers. Activities include: a telegraph challenge, train signal competition and a then and now comparison.
