‘High School Musical’ auditions

DreamWeavers will hold auditions for “Disney’s High School Musical” on May 11 at 6 p.m. and May 12 at 10 a.m. at Austin High School’s auditorium.

Susan Godwin Thompson will direct this story of a high school basketball captain and a shy math standout who try out for lead parts in their school musical.

Roles are available for students who have completed the eighth grade and up, said Thompson. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing at least 16 measures. An accompanist will be available, and a CD player and tape player will be provided, but auditioners may not sing with a voice on a recording, and no a cappella auditions are allowed.

They will be asked to read from the script and will be taught a short dance segment. “Dress appropriately and come prepared to move,” Thompson said.

Show dates are July 13-14 at the Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts. For information, e-mail Thompson at susan.thompson@dcs.edu or call DreamWeavers president Barry Sublett at 318-5945 between 3 and 6 p.m. weekdays.
